The rider is holding handlebars (F) and has their feet on pedals (H) connected to a crank (I) and chain (J). The rear wheel is connected to the crank via a connecting rod (D) and a lever (K). The wheels have numerous spokes and tires. The drawing includes labels for each part of the bicycle. The patent information reads: 'J. L. Hornig, of Jersey City. Velocipede. No. 191,145. Patented May 22, 1877.'
